Florida Sportsman’s Best Boat: Buddy Davis 34 CC

When Buddy Davis started building boats, he concentrated on meshing the clean, smooth lines of an inboard boat with outboard engine power. We’re sure it took a few tries to get it right, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at their boats today.

The lines on every Buddy Davis boat make us think of the nicest sport fishing boats we’ve ever been on. I’m talking double the Buddy Davis price range. How they deliver the power, style, and fishability of much bigger boats at their price point, we’ll never know.

We’re definitely not complaining. Neither were the Florida Sportsman experts when they made this one of their 2017 Best Boats. Their appreciation for the 34 CC inspired us to write this article.

As fishermen, the FS experts were blown away by the 34 CC’s absolute 360-degree fish-ability. As boat dealers, we were impressed with the same and the impeccable use of space on this boat. Keep reading for more on those details.

Boat Shape

Like all Buddy Davis boats, the entry on the exaggerated bow flair cuts chop like a knife. This particular model was made to fight the dangerous inlets of the outer banks, and boy does it deliver. The 34 CC can handle rough water and feels like a big sportfish boat at a more reasonable (and affordable) size.

The layout of the interior of the boat is very open, even accounting for the large (and tilt-able for wire access) center console. The console seats convert for sitting and leaning, with live bait-wells down below.

Need to take a break at sea? You won’t have to expose yourself to the elements. This boat’s CC has a 6′ by 6′ cabin with a toilet, sink, and handheld shower. There’s room to store supplies in the cabin without blocking access to its facilities. Especially if you got a carpenter in to build some custom shelves! (we can dream, right?

Storage Options

Our favorite part about this Buddy Davis 34 CC is how well they use their available deck space. This boat has compartments for your compartments!

Stick with us while we list all these storage options (or skip to the photos if you’re not into numbers)

The Buddy Davis 34 CC is rigged to handle up to 900 horsepower, getting you up to 50/60 mph. If you’re leaving from south Florida, day trips to the Bahamas are now a reality.
The boat drives fast, feels stable, and proves itself “extremely seaworthy”.
